My Latest Creation

Interchangeable Rokkit Launcha/Big Shoota FTMFW!

I'm very pleased with this guy. It took me most of the weekend to put together, and I can't wait to slap some paint on him to completely eff him up. :)

New 'Ard Boy joins the team...

Finished another of my Black Orc 'Ard Boy conversions tonight. Despite a drilling mishap when I was basing him (which was turned into a bullet wound), everything went okay.

Next up on my list will be painting the axe-swinging guy in the previous post and building another 'Ard Boy with a Big Shoota (think I'll use a Beakie assault cannon).

God of War III

Yes, my dorkiness extends to the world of videogames as well.  God of War III came out last week, and naturally I sprung for the "Ultimate Edition" that comes in a replica of Pandora's Box and includes soundtracks, art books and other needless goodies.

I shouldn't like God of War.  It's not my kind of game.  I'm not a fan of Devil May Cry/Ninja Gaiden action-adventure/remember endless button presses combo games at all, but God of War has always been more than that.  God of War has always been about brutally skull-frakking your on-screen enemies while telling the tragic tale of the baddest badass to ever wear a loincloth: Kratos.

Apparently, GoW3 is the "end" of the story.  If that's the case, it's going out with a bang.  God of War III is not a revolutionary entry in the series by any means.  It's still the same game: you kill everything in sight as the angriest Greek to ever live.  What sets GoW3 apart is the GRAPHICS.  Entrails, blood and viscera have always been present in the series, but they have never been rendered to this degree of fidelity.

For me, there are now two reasons to own a PS3: Uncharted and God of War.

List of things to do

Here's the monstrously ambitious list of stuff I want to do with my Ork army (not necessarily in order of importance):
  • more 'Ard Boyz (shooting for at least 10 more for a full Trukk-load, including one with Big Shoota and/or Rokkit Launcha)
  • Nob Biker (need a "Swoop" to complete the set of my Dinobot-named unit)
  • Stormboyz Nob (got some ideas using a new Chapterhouse Studios jump pack)
  • Trukk (to transport my new 'Ard Boyz)
  • Lootaz (can NEVER have too many Lootaz)
  • Battlewagon (want to try the "Supa Battlewagon" project found on Bell of Lost Souls)

Yeah, I'm a complete frakkin' loon.

And here's what I'm currently working on...

Two more 'Ard Boyz:

Still working my way through the Black Orc box and de-Fantasy-ing them to make 'Ard Boyz.

And a Big Mek w/Shokk Attack Gun and an Ammo Runt.  This was my reminder of why I hate metal models.  Too hard to work with.  I didn't care for the head on the original model, so I grabbed a new one off the Nob sprue.  It will probably be a while before I get around to painting this guy because I have so much that I want to do.

The Baseline part 2

Now the rest of da boyz...

Stormboyz (x5):

Love the Stomboyz kit.  Lots of bitz and really great models.  These guys took me forever to paint.

Nob Bikerz (Power Klaw x2; Big Choppa x1; Choppa x1):

The one on the far right is a kitbash using a Space Marine bike with various other bits.  The rest are pretty standard builds.

Lootaz x8:

I love customizing Lootaz with over the top weapons and whatnot.  And they pack a real punch in games as well.

'Ard Boyz, led by Da Mik (Nob w/Power Klaw):

Da newest membaz of da Waaagh...  Converted from Fantasy Black Orcs.  Slapped the ears on the Nob and he became "Da Mik."

The Baseline

Here is my Ork army as it stands today:

First, a group shot:

Ragnok's Riflez (Boyz w/Shoota x19; w/Rokkit Launcha x3; w/Big Shoota x3; Nob w/Power Klaw):

I'm generally pretty happy with the Shoota Boyz.  These were the first unit that I spent any serious time on.

Frakzod's Footsloggaz (Boyz w/Choppa and Slugga x29; Nob w/Power Klaw):

The Slugga Boyz were my first foray into painting.  Quick and dirty painting using Minwax dip at the end.

Gutslag Da Crusha (Warboss w/Mega Armour or Ghazghkull Thraka):

This guy needs a massive repaint.  Really a pile of garbage to look at.

More to come next post!!!
