Yes, my dorkiness extends to the world of videogames as well. God of War III came out last week, and naturally I sprung for the "Ultimate Edition" that comes in a replica of Pandora's Box and includes soundtracks, art books and other needless goodies.
I shouldn't like God of War. It's not my kind of game. I'm not a fan of Devil May Cry/Ninja Gaiden action-adventure/remember endless button presses combo games at all, but God of War has always been more than that. God of War has always been about brutally skull-frakking your on-screen enemies while telling the tragic tale of the baddest badass to ever wear a loincloth: Kratos.
Apparently, GoW3 is the "end" of the story. If that's the case, it's going out with a bang. God of War III is not a revolutionary entry in the series by any means. It's still the same game: you kill everything in sight as the angriest Greek to ever live. What sets GoW3 apart is the GRAPHICS. Entrails, blood and viscera have always been present in the series, but they have never been rendered to this degree of fidelity.
For me, there are now two reasons to own a PS3: Uncharted and God of War.
